- Oh Shit: Arkham's Closing This Weekend For Good
  
  Shock! Horror! Surprise! Maybe not surprise, but definitely a sudden development: according to their WeChat, Arkham, a long-time fixture on the club kid circuit, is closing this weekend. For good! No "we'll be back soon" no " 'renovations' ," no "shifting to a pop-up format," just ... seven years and out, baby! They announce it proudly. Four years in the cramped confines of a concrete cage on Wulumuqi Lu, then another three in the concrete cage of Found 158. But what a concrete cage it was! They hosted in the A$AP crew, Chromeo, Will Smith Jr., Lil Yachty, DJ Snake, Thundercat, ZHU, Bohan Phoenix, the Higher Brothers (back when that was cool) — yeah man, that's not a bad line for the epitaph. - ALL, The Club, Might Close. This Two Night Video Exhibition Is An Homage To Its Culture.

  That big concrete structure on the corner of Donghu/Fumin/Changle Lu is a pretty happening spot, both in terms of "lots of people drinking outside Funkadeli" and "places coming and going like it has a revolving door." Which it literally does! We've heard rumors of the whole thing being closed for like, four years, but somehow it keeps chugging along with new tenants jumping on and off. - Lucky Mart Serves Cheap And Easy Highballs Out Of A Convenience Store
  
  If you stumbled down Fumin Lu sometime in the last month looking for cigarettes at the Alldays, you may have accidentally walked into Lucky Mart. This is Camden Hauge's newest thing, in cooperation with design studio Wolfbelly and Dawn (The Odd Couple) manning the soda pumps. It's a Japanese bar dressed up to look like a convenience store. They do not sell cigarettes. Instead, they specialize in highballs, Japanese konbini snacks, highballs, cup noodles, hotdogs, highballs and highballs. They've been open since early-mid April, but that doesn't counts because they only just got a bathroom installed.   When Wolfgang's (the steakhouse not the Puck) first opened in Hongkou, I gushed. I've since been back several times on my own dime to share the porterhouse among friends, eat slabs of bacon and take a few bites of the pure-crab crabcake. But virus-savings mentality has kept me away, until this week, when I found out they were doing a 90+ day dry-aged ribeye. Most steaks are aged about 28 days. Ninety days is insane.   And there it is! The happiest place on Earth (or at least in Pudong) is coming back after more than three months away: . Ticket reservations start May 8 at 8am (no tickets available on the door). There will be restrictions, and extra disinfection and a requirement to bring your passport and wear a mask — all to be expected — but it's a big announcement when what is probably the city's busiest tourist attraction feels confident enough to re-open to the public. - Live Music is Quietly Returning to Shanghai But We Can't Really Tell You Where
  
  Very quietly, and in very distant parts of town, live music is beginning to return. Last Thursday night saw Minhang outpost LOFAS celebrate its opening night with *gasp* live music. Music, played live, by people, in front of more people. Roundeye was in attendance, keeping a safe six feet apart and strictly following regulations. Friday night, they were also at a low-key live show at NEO Bar for another mini concert. Then, over the weekend, live bands began returning to a couple places known for them, but the whole thing has been hush-hush; they are not yet allowed to promote the return of live music in public. Still, if you are looking for jazz, literally underground, or third-floor funk (THOSE ARE CLUES), then you might try calling around to see who has a show on this upcoming weekend.
- J. Boroski Makes the City's Best Cocktails. You Probably Shouldn't Go
  
  Shanghai may have hit peak cocktail with J. Boroski. Hidden entrance. Reservation only. No real menu. Bartenders in vests. Tired concepts, to be sure, but never executed to this level before. There are many things to say about this luxe, sexy and painstakingly assembled Bangkok transplant. It is unlike any other cocktail bar in the city, one of only a handful that successfully makes the argument for cocktails being a craft. And it is expensive. - Yes Beer Bros, Mikkeller Is Opening a Taproom In Shanghai and Brewdog Might Be Too
  
  The rumors are true, fans of the amber liquid! Spring will bring with it one and possibly as many as two new beer spots. Mikkeller, a Copenhagen microbrewery and indie-beer-darling, is opening its first China北京快3 store. Right here! In Shanghai! Big excitement for beer nerds. It's taking up a prime ground floor spot in a pristine white new complex opening up just behind the 7/11 on Yanping Lu. 20-some taps of the Danish staff and bottles, sleek, modern Scandi atmosphere, no Edison bulbs. Expect that late May. Elsewhere, Brewdog finally has a hoarding up in Merchant's Plaza. The Scottish brewery loomed large in China北京快3's craft beer scene for a while, even inspiring a knock-off in Changzhou, but plans for their own location have been slow to take off. They announced plans in 2018 and it's only now that it seems like it might actually be happening. Maybe. Construction expected to start after May holidays, and opening probably end of July. Maybe. Probably. Maybe.
- Shanghai International Literary Festival Cancelled, For Now
  
  The 18th Shanghai International Literary Festival hosted by M on the Bund has been cancelled due to the epidemic. The annual cultural event that brings in local and international authors is held along the Bund at Glam, which is opening again this Thursday. Originally scheduled for early March, the festival may come back with a mini lineup happening in the fall according to an announcement.
- Super Lounge KOR and Shark Reserve M1NT Come Back, Clubbing is Complete
  
  A shot of methadone for those in bottle service withdrawal: M1NT has posted an image on their WeChat that just reads "May 8, 北京快3." So mysterious! What could it mean? Oh yes — it's their re-opening. More immediately, KOR has announced it will reopen its fancy, fancy "super lounge" on Thursday, April 30, with some precautionary measures: temperature checks, naturally, one-meter spacing between guests and a "high-dose ozone air-conditioning disinfection system". The restaurant (there's a restaurant!) opens on May 15.
- Oh, The Huge, Fake Supreme Store Has Closed, R.I.P. Supreme Italia
  
  When we were busy talking about quarantines, we missed this tidbit: the massive fake Supreme store in Minhang, and all the "Italian" Supreme stores, have closed for good. The fake brand’s quiet exit is in big contrast to the stir its entrance caused (The Biggest Fake Supreme Store in the World is Now Open in Shanghai!). The drama included Supreme Italia’s massive flagship store out near Hongqiao, along with an aborted collaboration with Samsung, which flopped after Samsung realized it was dealing with Fake Supreme. Its former store on Huaihai Zhong Lu was replaced by another company, which also by the looks of it closed down. That leaves just the regular fake Supreme stores (not the Italian fake ones), where you can still find imitation red and white logos on everything from cars to electric toothbrushes to Mahjong tiles.

  Commune Reserve, the physical and Stone-anointed spiritual successor to Stone Brewing, opened up over the weekend. Rammed on day one. Seems like people were itching to get back in there. - And That's A Wrap: Sproutworks Closes Its Last Retail Location
  
  You would have thought it would end differently. Shanghai in early 2013 was a hard place to find Western-style vegetarian food and the green trend among Chinese was just emerging. Into that environment stepped Sproutworks, a pretty bold idea. It was super vegetarian-friendly, with like a dozen prepared salads and sides to choose from, as well as meat dishes. It loudly told you that "I'm not your Ayi, clean up after yourself", plastered on the wall. It offered 北京快3made teas and drinks with copious amounts of sugar. And people loved it. Rightly so. They went from one shop on Donghu Lu to branches on Huashan Lu near the Kunlun (ex-Hilton), in the south plaza of Xintiandi and on Taixing Lu under WeWork. There were more in Hongqiao and Pudong and a spin-off, Ban Ban, in iapm. But that all ended quietly this past week when the Taixing Lu store, the last hold-out, shut its doors. So, what happened?
